They introduce themselves as North-American Christian men, widowers, look gorgeous on the pics, are just the sort of family men any divorced or deceived woman could dream of, they are committed email-writers and build up friendship and trust with you. They promise love and happiness. Suddenly sth serious happens to them, like their child suffers from cancer etc, they add a lovely picture of the child and know how to manipulate female weakness and frailty. They end up asking you to send money to Nigeria, and they manage to put it in such a way that no good-hearted woman can resist without feeling guilty herself… If names like Hovan Barvek or Clooney Cupper ring a bell, I would be happy to share your experience. But they probably change names with each contact. We shouldn’t stay in the dark but talk about it in broad daylight - since these guys are going for European women now who haven’t heard as much about their methods yet, and can’t distinguish their accent on the phone.
that’s what you get for trying to date a christian

Yes, sadly there are scammers everywhere, online is not a safe place in general. Never assume that anything or anyone is safe.. really guys are not safe, unless you find the rare ones, but just pray =]

Nigeria is famous for its scammers in all areas of online contact. best things to do is if they are from Nigeria, be cautious and do not under any circumstances send any money.

No, I have never been on those websites. The internet is a place where you can’t really know what is true. Just today, there was news of a 12 year old abducted on holiday in France by someone she met online. I don’t know what she was thinking of - he said he was 28 - not her age group at all. He was 41, was going to bring her into Spain and dumped her when she had no passport. She might never have been heard of again.
If you google internet scams, there are dozens, mainly emanating from Nigeria. Be careful - there are a lot of unscrupulous people out there who will do anything to get money - your money. And they do not care what sort of a bad situation they leave you in.
